We Need Water
California is in the middle of a severe drought, and it feels like it's here to stay. It rained for less than a minute yesterday. I brought the clothes drying in the balcony inside, put on my boots and coat and went out to a cafe. Turns out the clouds were actually just playing peekaboo, but I didn't get the memo, so I looked like a fool wearing boots in 80 degrees. Silly clouds.
Extreme water restrictions have been placed all over the state due to the drought. Today I learned the reason why the mountains are brown and dry is because they stopped watering them. Who knew we watered our mountains?
Famous water fountains, like the one in Getty Villa or LACMA have been turned off (this might not be a big deal to some, but I was seriously saddened when I saw this). Restrictions are placed on urban water usage but none on agriculture which is the biggest industry in California.
Everyone should take some time out to watch Cowspiracy! Yes it's on Netflix. Here's a fun fact from the movie. "Agriculture is responsible for 80-90% of US water consumption" that's coming from USDA researchers. I still don't think the solution is to be vegan, but just to eat less meat and encourage Gov to place restrictions on animal agriculture industries. That's my two cents.
Here are some snaps from my fun filled weekend with beautiful people (many missing because of reasons).
Some people have this immense light that follows them. I'd say I am pretty blessed to have so many in my life. These are a few of many manyyy people. Thanks friends and fam. Thanks for keeping it lit.
Sorry Adele. I'll try to stop.
