Soul Friends or No Friends
Kanye always told me to make good friends. "You are a reflection of your friends," he said. My big bro Kid Cudi told me to, "make good friends, they will influence who you become." I used to tell them, "I am my own person, they can't influence me."
Sadly, I actually believed that. Ha, what a joke.
Okay fine. This really happened but it was actually my sister giving me advice. The real MVP, but I have a feeling Kanye and Cudi would say the same thing.
Believe or Leave.
Thankfully Allah swt was lookin' out and blessed me with the best of the best company. Alhumdulilah.
(Soul Friends on the east coast, I still haven't found the right words to express my gratitude to yall. Still in shock on how four months in DC can change my whole life. I catch my self thinking "If Sharmin, Nesima, Sheerin, or other soulfriends were here, ........". I'll need the next four months to reflect.) Much love.
This ones for the west coast fam.
Here's how I see it. We are born in to our family, but we get to choose our friends. So, be picky if you have to. No company is better than bad company. Choose people who make you better, who make it a little easier to live in this crazy world. Choose people whose words and actions remind you of God.
Soul Friends or No Friends. That's the motto.
The truth is, there is only one thing all of my best friends have in common. Drum roll pleaseee...
They have big butts, but bigger hearts.
(I hope you watch the office, just google the scene if you don't)
Okay, here it is.
They don't talk crap.
Plain and simple, but revolutionary.
And the two who I have come to love more and more everyday. Thanks for all the support and love.
I just realized we drink a lot of Coffee/Lattes.
Lastly, shoutout to the Sis and Nidah. Thanks for the constant reminders. I'd be lost without you guys.
West coast fam, thanks for keeping it lit.
Prayers and love for you all, always.
